Dedicated to Sonya Kennedy, Mary Anne Bruner, Charly Spining, and the choir of the
Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, Flagstaff, Arizona: fine musicians all.

I created this collection of hymn medleys in 2009. All the tunes are selections from the Episcopal Hymnal 1982, and they include many of my favorite ones to play during services. All the tunes and some of the harmonizations are in the public domain; the remaining arrangements are (c) 2009 by me. Photographs are by me unless otherwise noted. The links in the sidebar will take you to a YouTube video of each track, along with some descriptions of the tunes. I’m posting this in August 2024 to my web site as a fond goodbye to my hometown of 32 years and to the “little stone church on the hill” where I’ve had such a wonderful time making music over the years.

This is a selection of hymns that give thanks for the days we are allotted, all of which fly much too quickly. Laudes Domini is one of my favorites to play as a processional, but the others are all winners as well. images are of the lovely environs of Flagstaff, AZ – at 7,000 feet, a sublime mix of near-nirvana in the summer and paralyzing snow in the winter. We give thanks for the four seasons and the harvest home of the high country of Arizona.
This track is directly inspired by Hooked on Classics, which riveted me as a teenager. All the hymns are, as my middle son would say, “bangers,” and they lend themselves well to the rock interpretation. The logical images seemed to be those of the amazing sights of our rock-intensive area of the world. In the second verse of the final selection, Lancashire, listen for snippets of all the other hymns on the track.
Pentecost is my favorite service of the liturgical year. Here are several hymns with an emphasis on the Trinity.
